Position Summary
Indiana University East, Richmond, IN, invites applications for an anticipated full-time position in Psychology, with flexible entry as Lecturer or tenure-track Assistant Professor, for the academic year beginning August 1, 2026. Candidates for all full-time positions must demonstrate a strong desire to excel in teaching and provide ongoing support for student success, in and out of the classroom. Assistant Professor candidates should have an active research agenda that can include undergraduate students who desire mentorship in research. Online delivery of programs is an increasingly important aspect of the IU East enrollment strategy; our online undergraduate psychology program was ranked #6 by US News and World Report. H-1B sponsorship is not available for this position.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities• Assistant Professors teach a 3/3 load; Lecturers teach a 4/4 load of online and face-to-face introductory and advanced psychology courses in the BS in Psychology program. Summer teaching is optional.
• Teach non-clinical undergraduate courses such as behavioral neuroscience, research methods, statistics for social sciences, evolutionary psychology, human sexuality, cognitive psychology, and the psychology of learning.
• Provide service in a variety of departmental roles with availability in program assessment, co-leading an established departmental study abroad trip, and coordinating undergraduate mentorship programs within the department.
• Assistant Professors would develop an active research agenda to include mentoring undergraduate students who desire research experience and mentor upper-level students on their independent research projects. Lecturers would be responsible for more robust teaching expectations, but no research obligations.
• Communicate subject matter clearly, correctly, and effectively. Use methods, materials, and technology appropriate to the subject matter.
• Manage the learning environment through keeping accurate records, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school and campus academic policies.
• Participate in service across the department, college, school, university, and profession levels.
• Demonstrate the ability to develop a professional rapport with diverse populations within the university and community.
Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• Assistant Professors - Earned doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD, EdD) in a psychological field with training in research and quantitative methods. ABDs near completion will be considered.
• Lecturers - Earned Master's degree (MA, MS) in a psychological field with training in research and quantitative methods.
• Demonstrated commitment to high-quality undergraduate teaching and service.
